ACEM-Rail: Towards a More Efficient and Sustainable Railway Maintenance. Final FP7 Project Workshop September 2013

A Final Workshop will be organised within the workframe of ACEM-Rail Project. The main objective is to present the final results achieved in ACEM-Rail project and to serve as a discussion forum for researchers and professionals who are interested in the railway maintenance field.

The Workshop will be held during the European Transport Conference (ETC 2013) in Frankfurt (Germany), on Monday 30 September, 2013. This Conference attracts transport planners and engineers; local, regional and central government officers; public transport planners and operators; providers of technical advice and consultancy; policy makers, researchers and academics.

The ACEM-Rail Workshop session will be open to all ETC delegates who are interested.

Of course any person interested in the workshop is welcome after filling the ETC booking form, which is on the website of the conference.

ACEM-Rail in "Spanish Railway", published by the Spanish Railway Foundation July 2013

An article about the ACEM-Rail project has been published in Spanish Railway - Bulletin of 02/07/2013 (in English). This digital publication periodically presents the new technologies and innovations in the Spanish railway as well as the latest news about its operators, managers and the railway sector.

The article describes the background, status and evolution as well as other general details of the ACEM-Rail project.

Next September, ACEM-Rail will be presented at CSC2013 February 2013

The Third International Conference on Soft Computing Technology in Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSC2013) will be held on 3-6 September 2013, in Cagliari, Sardinia, (Italy). Papers describing the application and recent developments in the soft computing technology will be presented at the CSC 2013.

Fraunhofer-IVI will present a paper about the routine maintenance scheduling problem (RMSP) in railway track network.

ACEM-Rail will attend at ICORES 2013 February 2013

The 2nd International Conference on Operations Research and Enterprise Systems (ICORES 2013) will be held on 16-18 February 2013, in Barcelona (Spain). The purpose of ICORES 2013 is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the advances and applications in the field of operations research.

Fraunhofer-IVI, together with POLITO, will present a novel model for the tamping scheduling problem in a short-term planning horizon.

ACEM-Rail presented at CIT 2012 June 2012

The 10th Spanish Transport Engineering Conference (CIF 2012) was held on 20-22 June 2012, in Granada (Spain). The main objective of the conference has been to become a benchmark forum on technology and science for the Transportation industry in Spain. This is a meeting point where experts can gather to exchange experiences and announce the latest advances. US and CEMOSA presented a paper and oral presentation about the ACEM-Rail project.


D10.3 Report on Dissemination and Exploitation Activities May 2012

The first release of the deliverable D10.3, which compiles the dissemination and exploitation actions undertaken by the ACEM-Rail Consortium since the project started to May 2012, is already available to download. Please click here.

The document is mainly focused on dissemination due to the developments at this stage of the project are not sufficient to precisely set-up exploitation actions.

A new release of this deliverable will be produced at the end of the project (November 2013) to summarize all dissemination actions performed by the Consortium during the project, including a compilation of the material generated.

ACEM-Rail presented at CIF 2012 May 2012

The 7th Spanish Conference on Railway Innovation (CIF 2012) was held on 9-11 May 2012, in Zaragoza, Spain. The main objective of the conference was the reflection and exchange of experience in the railway innovation sector. Moreover, the event featured presentations by over thirty experts and leader companies in both the public and private sectors. The oral presentations deal with new concepts of rolling stock, security and communication systems. Electrification and vibration issues are also treated. CEMOSA and US presented a paper about the ACEM-Rail project.


ACEM-Rail presented at CETRA 2012 May 2012

The 2nd International Conference on Road and Rail Infrastructure (CETRA 2012) was held on 7-9 May 2012, in Dubrovnik (Croatia). The intention of CETRA was to bring together scientists and experts in the fields of road and railway engineering and give them one more opportunity to present the results of theirresearches, findings and innovations. This conference attracted about 152 papers from 39 countries. Fraunhofer-IVI, together with other ACEM-Rail Partners, presented a paper about track maintenance modelling.


ACEM-Rail presented at TRA 2012 April 2012

The Transport Research Arena took place in Athens, Greece, on 23-26 April 2012. The theme of the TRA was "Sustainable mobility through innovation". The conference was addressed all stakeholders in both the public and private sectors and all professionals, regardless of their roles (researchers, designers, constructors, operators, administrators etc.). Noemi Jimenez Redondo, the Project Coordinator, presented the project outline.


ACEM-Rail attended at EXPO Ferroviaria 2012 March 2012

EXPO Ferroviaria is an Italian trade show for the railway technology held in Turin every two years. Last one took place on 27-29 March 2012. All aspects of railway technology are covered at EXPO Ferroviaria: as well as serving manufacturers in the major fields of rolling stock technology, track and infrastructure and signalling and communications, the show also provided a shop window for suppliers of many other specialised products. DMA, one of the ACEM-Rail Partners, had a booth on this showcase where the ACEM-Rail project was presented.


ACEM-Rail attended at IEEE Sensors 2011 October 2011

The Conference took place in Limerick, Ireland, on 28-31 October 2011. The conference showcased high quality technical presentations on a broad range of multidisciplinary topics related to sensors and sensor applications. The conferences attracted over 890 abstracts from over 50 different countries. SUN, one of the ACEM-Rail Partners, presented a lecture about BOTDA sensors in this conference.

Second Project Meeting May 2011

On 26th & 27th of May 2011, the second project meeting of ACEM-Rail will take place in Seville (Spain), aiming to exchange and synchronize ideas and check the current status of the project.


9th World Congress on Rail Research
(WRCC 2011)
May 2011

The WCRR 2011 will take place in Lille (France) from 22nd May to 25th May 2011. On this event, the European Commission, RTD, Directorate H, Surface Transport Unit will present several FP7 projects. One of them will be ACEM-Rail. Moreover, the first leaflet of the ACEM-Rail project will be distributed.

6th Spanish National Conference on Railway Innovation March 2011

ACEM-Rail coordinator (Dr. Noemi Jimenez-Redondo) participated in the 6th Conference of Railway Innovative. The event was organized by Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) and held in the city of Málaga (Spain) on 30th March to 1st April 2011.

The Conference was the first opportunity to disseminate the project objectives as well as its goals and benefits.


Kick-off Meeting January 2011

The kick-off meeting was held in Málaga (Spain), 13th-14th January 2011, and was hosted by CEMOSA, coordinator of this project. The primary objectives for this meeting were to reviewthe project objectives and the responsibility of the actors involved.


ACEM-Rail Started December 2010

The ACEM-Rail project was launched officially on December 1st, 2010.
